ABSTRACT

This was luxurious accommodations for a disaster situation as far as the press was concerned. You had, from the first day, telephone communications. And that was because DFW had been through this (crash) situation before and because they anticipated the problem (a major crash) would occur again and they anticipated the problems the press would have. They were ready to accommodate us in the ways they could-with certain limitations, of course. We couldn’t get out to the scene immediately. But as soon as it was possible-as soon as the survivors were cleared away, and when they were sure the fire situations were under control, they guided the press that was on the scene. They moved the press line in to the chain-link fence-about 30 feet from the plane.
