From15NovembertheAlliesbegantoreorganisethedistributionoftheirforcesin Flanders.TheBEFwastoholdacompactfrontofsometwenty-onemilesfromthe southernendoftheYpressalientsouthtoGivenchy,neartheLaBasseecanal.Fromnorth tosouththeBEFwasorganisedinthelinewithII,III,IVandIndianCorpsin succession,andICorpsandmostoftheCavalryCorpsheldinreserve.Untilthemiddleof Decemberbothsideswereoccupiedwithimprovingtheirtrenchsystemsandreorganising theirforces.FromtheendofOctobertheBEFhadbeenreinforcedwithanincreasing numberofTerritorialunits,oneofwhich,theLondonScottish,hadfoughtmagnificently duringthebattlearoundYpres.TheseTerritorialunitswiththeIndianCorpsbroughtthe totalstrengthoftheBEFto224,647on15November.
