ABSTRACT

Establishing the accurate diagnosis of a psychotic disorder is essential in many types of criminal forensic psychological examinations. In some cases, such as insanity evaluations, the diagnosis of psychotic disorder constitutes crucial evidence that directly relates to the psycholegal questions (Goldstein, Morse, & Packer, 2013). In other types of examinations, such as sentencing evaluations, the identification of psychosis serves as an indirect, albeit important, mitigation and is an additional source of evidence in support of the forensic opinion.
