ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book introduces students to the wide variety of building typologies, and the numerous ways these typologies can be detailed and assembled. It introduces students to a variety of project scales and typologies, and explores projects through a combination of descriptive text, photographs, and building construction assemblies to allow for analysis. The book aims to help students learn to build their own process for understanding the relationship between design and the creation of building construction detailing. Consistent graphics are used to tie all drawings and images from the various projects together, as well as to make sure that the building construction detailing is clear and easy to understand for nascent architects and constructors. The increased complexity of architectural design and construction has made it harder for students to grasp the vast nature of building construction assembly options.
