ABSTRACT
The specific aim of the article is to analyse possibilities and limitations over time for
innovation based on a combination of knowledge between the traditional leisure boat man-
ufacturing and the tourism sectors of the economy. This is operationalized through the fol-
lowing research criteria:
(a) What are the important events and conditions behind the development of knowledge
and innovative capacity in the respective sectors including the policy arena?
