ABSTRACT

Jetblue airways is an American airline owned by JetBlue Airways Corporation. It provides passenger air transportation services in North America. JetBlue emphasized its customer service by advertising that it encourages passengers to use the call button on their TV set and to ask for on-board service. When in early 2006 JetBlue reported its first loss since going public four years earlier, Neeleman, President David Barge, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Owen publicized their return to profitability plan. It was Wednesday, February 14, 2007, when the nightmare began. The impact on jetblue was devastating. On May 10, the JetBlue board of directors removed David Neeleman as chief executive, offering him instead the title of nonexecutive chair. Like other airlines, JetBlue had the usual management information system (MIS). The breakdown of JetBlue's operations and communication network was also the failure of its Management Information System( MIS) to perform under conditions of crisis, albeit quite predictable.
