The chapter focus on the design of this type of system and the various aspects of its architecture in the enterprise. The purpose of this chapter is to enable the reader to gain important insights into how organizations compile and manipulate the knowledge they possess into workable knowledge systems. The chapter provides a road map into the design of the KMS and what makes it an asset for the organization. KMS starts by examining the nature and purpose of these systems and ends with the key aspects and dimensions of their composition in the organization. The KMS with a high probability of success requires a design that involves several design modes and architectures and addresses the combination of factors are discussed.
