ABSTRACT

Slowing down has been conceived as an opportunity to experience quality and to get back to natural rhythms. This chapter aims to gain a deeper understanding of the Spanish experience with slow tourism from both an academic and practical perspective. From a methodology point of view, content analysis is used for the study of scientific material, webpages and online information related to slow tourism practices. Results will show (1) how slowness is interpreted in Spain, (2) to which extent is changing trends and tourist behavior, and (3) how slowness is shaped into touristic habits and activities.
