ABSTRACT
This chapter and the one that follows examine key decisions that affect elite-level participants in sports. The first part of this chapter focuses on the ecosystem surrounding compensation nego-tiations for athletes. We then discuss players’ associations with examples of major decisions that these associations make. Emphasis is often placed on looking at issues from the professional athlete’s perspective. Chapter 6 looks at player evaluation from the club perspective as part of an analysis of the club player-side decision making process.
