ABSTRACT
David DeGrazia describes the conditions endured by chickens, pigs, and cows during their lives and deaths as part of the factory farming system in the U.S., Great Britain, and most other industrialized countries. American farm animals have virtually no legal protection. DeGrazia argues that consumers are morally obliged to make a reasonable effort to not provide financial support to institutions that cause extensive unnecessary suffering.
