ABSTRACT
The Pew Commission heard approximately 54 hours of testimony from stakeholders and experts, received technical reports from academics from institutions across the country, and visited operations in five states. Over the past 50 years the production of farm animals for food has shifted from the traditional family farm system to a more concentrated system in which large numbers of animals are confined in enormous operations.
