ABSTRACT
Hettinger addresses arguments both in favor of and in opposition to the continued introduction of exotic species to many habitats. He concludes that there are good reasons for opposing their introduction; even the presence of species that are naturally dispersing and nondamaging leads to a loss of biological purity and to a greater global homogenization of plants and animals.
