Sometimes the bond with a wild animal can approach that experienced with our domesticated animal companions. Anna Merz relates her remarkable experience of raising the wild rhino Samia in a rhino sanctuary in Africa. Merz and Samia experienced a bond of deep love, trust, and friendship over 10 years, illustrating that beings of two wholly different species can reach out to each other for understanding.
