ABSTRACT

Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 with the goal of eliminating poverty-level housing conditions worldwide, 1 it and has been headquartered in Georgia since the organization’s founding, with offices split between its birthplace in Americus, Georgia and a more recent corporate presence in Atlanta. Habitat for Humanity was organized upon four core tenets:

Houses are sold at no profit, and buyers are charged no interest.

Homes are built by the future homeowners and community volunteers (with trained supervision).

Individuals, businesses, and faith groups provide the financial support.

The homes are designed to be simple, affordable, and of good quality.
