ABSTRACT

Attention defi cit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) remains one of the most common presentations in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and community paediatric clinics. ADHD is a common disorder of childhood, described as a behavioural problem characterised by excessive patterns of hyperactivity, inattention and impulsiveness (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence [NICE] 2008; Barkley 2015a). The core symptoms of ADHD are recognised as having ongoing chronic disabling diffi culties for children and young people in achieving day-to-day success in living (NICE 2008; Weyandt and Gudmundstottir 2015).
