ABSTRACT

Current school leaders need a variety of professional learning opportunities and experiences. The best school systems throughout the world invest in leadership through various support mechanisms, including aspiring school leader development and professional development for leaders. Professional development (PD) for leaders should focus on leveraging effective leaders and leadership practices through systematic leadership preparation experiences that significantly and positively affect student learning. Each of the instructional leaders was involved in several different collaborative planning groups with teachers where they could provide coaching and feedback during the planning process as well as through classroom observations. The School Administration Manager (SAM) process does not reduce the importance of the day-to-day duties or urgencies; rather it gives the building principal the freedom to delegate those things to other appropriate building leaders. The Alliance for Leading and Learning (ALL) Program in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was created to provide a comprehensive Leadership Development System to support school leaders.
