ABSTRACT
In 2007, Qatar buzzed with excitement over its bid to host the 2016 Olympics. Posters adorned buildings and served to add to the exhilaration. What drew attention was the visibility of the year 2016. Here we were in October 2007, yet 2016 was evoked all around. Nine years ahead, yet the State of Qatar was asking society to visualize itself into that future (see Figure 8.1).
