ABSTRACT
Analytics, generally speaking, is the study of data. The process begins by recording information, either in predetermined categories or through mass information mining, which becomes the data used in the study. Analytical predictions have been frequently used in the area of financial investments. Both methods of analytics have been utilized in many different industries, due to the highly valuable information it can provide. But one area where the scientific study of numbers was traditionally shunned was in sports. As of 2016, data analytics is still in its early stages in the National Football League (NFL), but the presence is growing. Still others claim that football analytics has not kept pace with other sports. Analytics is growing in college football, although it has been largely limited to major programs that have the economic resources to utilize it.
