ABSTRACT
This chapter establishes an understanding of anthropology as a discipline with its own body of knowledge that can enable us to utilise it as a lens to study nursing. Given the various fields of anthropology, some key concepts only are explored and many of these are then used to focus on how they can be of value for nursing across the other chapters. Options for anthropology of nursing as its own field are offered for debate and discussion.
