ABSTRACT
This chapter develops further the focus on rites of passage and the journey taken by a student nurse as they make a transition to becoming a qualified nurse. It looks at their initiation into the world of their future work as qualified nurses and most importantly the nomadic nature of their journey through a planned and structured pattern of placements. This type of nomadic (learning) experience can be seen to be present in a temporal, spatial and cultural context.
