ABSTRACT

The properties Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) provides for styling text are derived largely from the characteristics of letterforms and characters, that is, the shapes of the letters and characters that constitute text. A typeface is a unique set of letterforms and characters with common visual design features. The fonts of a typeface are altogether known as a family of fonts or a font family. A typeface should be used that has letters and characters that have good level of legibility. Like with typefaces, the same font size can produce varying levels of legibility across operating systems. Another important role of font size in design is in creating visual hierarchy of importance, which is the use of progressively smaller sizes to attach varying levels of importance to different parts of content. The font-weight property is an inherited property that is used to specify the weight or boldness for the textual content of an element.
