ABSTRACT

In order for the use of people's works to be legal, it is generally required by law to first get their permission. Intellectual property laws provide information to help determine in what situations permissions are required and from whom to seek them. Intellectual property (IP) is a general term used to describe a creation of the mind or a creative activity. Copyright is the exclusive right to determine what is done with a literary, musical, or artistic work. The owner of the copyright to a book, for example, has the exclusive right to reproduce, publish, sell, or distribute it. The duration of copyright is not indefinite and also varies from country to country, largely because, as mentioned before, different countries have differently crafted copyright laws. Nonvoluntary license exception is so called because the authorization to use a work is not necessarily voluntary on the part of the copyright owner.
