ABSTRACT

The problem of approaching a book such as OBSI, a landmark from the past for some of us, lies in determining the kind of influence it was for us and whether it reflects a spell we fell under temporarily, and so, a historical moment that marked our intellectual immaturity, or the nucleus of something larger that might continue to live for us after its time has passed. On the lowest step of PlatO's Divided Line, this concern leads us to ask of what is this book an image.
