ABSTRACT

This chapter captures the thoughts, feelings, and reflections of school psychology graduate students as they prepared for the Praxis exam using the Prepare, Assist, Survive, and Succeed (PASS) model. The reflections are organized by topic, beginning with preparing for the exam, the actual experience of taking the exam, and some of the challenges they faced and how they coped with them. The handouts that were clear and organized were extremely helpful while those who gave pages of technical information were much harder to learn from. The tip to a cohort is to develop handouts that are easy to read and to try to keep in the back of their mind that their classmates are depending on they to learn the information. Learning additional details about the field of study, in preparation for the Praxis, also helped build their confidence in working with students and other professionals.
