ABSTRACT

Career exploration is a personal process of discovery through which individuals clarify what matters most to them. The way people individually perceive a career reflects their world view and has implications for how their career develops, how success is gauged and how it fits into their broader life. A frequently used definition of ‘the unfolding sequence of a person’s work experiences over time’ (Arthur et al., 1989, p. 8) has led me to believe that everyone has a career, and only one. A career is an holistic life-long process that incorporates all experiences and learning into one entity. Making a living co-exists with living a life (Super et al., 1996, p. 128).
