ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses that three case studies are all focused on bringing about holistic culture change across the authors universities. These three case studies exemplify the desired outcome of providing enhanced student learning provision. The first illustrates a pan-university move from three to four-year undergraduate degree programmes; the second is about exploiting new technologies for student learning; and the final case study outlines a six-year campus estates redevelopment project. In the case study which follows, an approach to delivering a key national policy initiative moving from a three-year degree to a four-year degree is outlined by Amy Tsui, then deputy president for teaching and learning at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). The cultural anatomy model is interesting in terms of assessing where an organisation is in terms of its readiness for change with both its hard measures and soft measures with shared values at the centre.
