ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the cases that provide a description of what occurred in 14 quite different organizations operating with the construction industry. They give insight into various aspects of their lean quality and operational performance improvement efforts. The objective of writing the cases has been to offer a resource through which the student of lean quality (including the practising manager) may understand how organizations that adopt the approach operate. It is hoped that the cases provide a further useful and distinct contribution to lean quality education and training. The case material is suitable for practising managers, students on undergraduate and postgraduate courses and all teachers of the various aspects of business management and lean quality implementation. Imagination, innovation and intuition should be as much a part of the study of a case as observation and analysis of the facts and any data available.
