ABSTRACT

Since 1955 Heathrow Airport has been connecting people from around the globe, making it the world’s busiest international airport. In order to deliver the priorities and service propositions, Heathrow needs to deliver its capital investment programme on time and with a focus on realizing the benefits from the solutions delivered. Heathrow’s Development directorate leads the infrastructure programmes and plays a leading role in the transformation of the airport with projects ranging from refurbishment projects to entire new terminal complexes. In terms of a quality management system, the development programme delivery is managed by the Heathrow Gateway Lifecycle. The Heathrow Gateway Lifecycle is jointly delivered by both Heathrow Development and their partner contractors. The responsibility for project delivery and thus the quality of the solution in the Heathrow Gateway Lifecycle is the project manager. The delivery of the project’s quality solution is linked to the demonstration that the associated solution’s documentation has been delivered and meets the necessary standards.
