ABSTRACT

This case study is about lean deployment at Rosendin Electric, Inc. Rosendin Electric is one of the early adopters of the concepts of lean construction and an early member of the Lean Construction Institute in the US. Three main strategies have helped Rosendin and its partners to drive innovation: Integrated Form of Agreement (IFOA); Value Stream Mapping and analysis; and Set-based Design. Utilizing the many tools of lean construction, Rosendin Electric, as a key trade partner, has delivered many extremely complicated projects on time and under budget. Rosendin Electric has long held continuous improvement, standardization of its processes, innovation, creating customer value and respect for employees as its core beliefs. Lean/IPD takes those beliefs just a step further, committing the business to continually do this within a multifunctional team. The business established a steering committee to lead its development and practice in lean construction.
