ABSTRACT
Our examination of the argument concerning the nature of the given in sense-perception has led us to the conclusion that this argument reflects different conceptions of the 'nature of thought'. It is therefore really a metaphysical argument in which the question of senseperception is used as the vehicle for the expression of different conceptions regarding the relation between cognition and reality.
