ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the scope and the support methods that business partners deal with. The diagnostic method for the business partner is to consider delivery issues in relation to the model type that they operate within, for example, business, operating, or delivery model. The form of engagement and contractual position between the business partners will also define delivery and stakeholder involvement. The business partner and the teams that they operate within will be required to deliver either services or products. The key skill for the business partner is to identify the constraints that they are operating under and then, through their competences, implement enabling strategies or approaches so that delivery is not impeded. Business partners and stakeholders will normally be involved in some form of budgetary process within the organizations they operate within. The chapter presents the case study that examines why the distinction between business, delivery, and operating models can be important.
