ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the causes of change, what tools can be applied and considers how a business partner can apply change management. The context of change is caused by three broad impacts. These are defined as strategic, tactical and operational causes of changes. Tactical causes of change are those that may have a primary impact upon stakeholders throughout the organization they work in. Operational changes are those that the business partner may directly impact upon their own outputs and objectives. In the expansion phase, new and rapidly growing industries and companies tend to develop and change rapidly in upturns or periods of growth. Competition will drive changes in markets of price levels, delivery times, customer service and the specification of products. The business partner will have been selected or appointed to make improvements; this in effect will also become a driver and cause for change.
