ABSTRACT

This chapter provides two sample stories and three exercises to help everyone find their personal balance between ambition and acceptance. The hectic journey of proving and improving ourselves oftentimes takes such a high toll on people that they hardly find time to lead a fulfilling private life, let alone to reflect on the purpose and sensibility of their paths. People need to develop a balance to maintain each mindset in the most suitable way. The balance point will vary, so they will have to engage in some personal mental exploration to tune into our personal equilibrium. The chapter highlights two main ways of exploring: reflection, in which there is contemplation regarding the circumstances; and exercises, through which people actively engage in practices, oftentimes of a recurring nature to help us see our path clearer and find the appropriate balance between our ambition and acceptance. Practicing Vipassana meditation ignites personal awareness and awakens people about the impermanence of everything, including themselves.
