ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights some well-known leaders who accepted the course of events as fuel for their ambition. In discussing the influence of ambition on acceptance, the chapter explains panel of leaders from business, non-profit and academic environments. The woman that would become the 11th president of the Philippines and the first female president of that nation was born into a wealthy political and banking family as Maria Corazon Sumulong Cojuangco. During the seven years of imprisonment, Corazon, by nature a shy and religious woman, diligently served as the connection line between her husband and his supporters. Realizing the growing political instability, Marcos called for elections in 1986. The opposing parties selected Corazon Aquino as their candidate, and, motivated by her aversion to the Marcos dictatorship, Cory accepted the people's choice. Muhammad Yunus became increasingly disturbed by the sight of endlessly struggling people in the villages, and the lack of support to assist them out of their pitiful state.
