ABSTRACT

Themes from across the whole group are considered, in the form of a hermeneutic of description and then a hermeneutic of suspicion. Jenbury Handlebar-Smythe's themes included gender influencing sexuality, gender transition, and the use of colour to represent singularity and multiplicity. Martin's themes included being unique, overcoming barriers, time and the process of transition, and the gaze of the other. Charlie's themes included change over time and the overcoming of past barriers, the hope for growth and personal comfort, and a consideration of choices. Mr Fox's themes included the positioning of his sexuality as strictly binary rather than queer. Cee Cee's themes included multiplicity of gender and sexuality, with sexuality relating to two groupings of masculinity and femininity. Scot Sam's themes included adaptation within the medium of LEGO®, a recognition and overcoming of a barrier placed upon him by the world and culture, change over time, and a move to a more positive place.
