ABSTRACT

As the authors mentioned in the culture section, there are instances even in education where leaders wander off the path of wisdom and integrity and wind up in a lot of trouble. Bruce Lloyd, leading with wisdom and international leadership expert, reinforces this idea as he explains: wisdom is not so much about technical bits of information, such as application of knowledge. Leadership is, after all, in part about making good decisions. Wisdom is one trait which novice leaders are expected to utilize, but with a lack of experience this can be a daunting task. Dr. Phyllis Wise, Chancellor of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, explained the impact wisdom has had on her leadership at the university level. David Pennington, president of AASA, believes there are many keys to increasing wisdom and the capacity to lead. The Australian Antarctic Division recruits its Station Leaders specifically for leadership experience; for wisdom.
