ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses on Israeli communities that originate in Africa, and whose presence within Israel is incompatible with the ethnic, racial and national logic of Israeli space. Additionally, renouncing the responsibility to physically examine the asylum seekers allows them to travel around the country undiagnosed; beyond neglecting their health, this enhances their racialization. In effect it attests debilitation of the Convention in Israeli space, which shortly afterwards was forced to cope with the arrival of tens of thousands of asylum seekers. 'Africa in Israel' through the prism of African asylum seekers, who cross the Israel Egypt border looking for a safe and protective territory.
