ABSTRACT

Israels resumed activity within developing countries, including African ones, is accompanied by a discourse which refers to its 1960s-70s involvement in the continent. The economic power relations and the international commerce regulations help the continued exploitation of the 'Third World' African countries in this context by corporations that are granted franchise to access natural resources and utilize a cheap labor force. Africa strives today to export agricultural produce to worldwide markets, and therefore seeks suitable successful models. African countries consider Israel to be the source of a successful and inspiring model of communal and commercial agriculture. Israel should make a name for itself in humanitarian aid, following the grand Jewish heritage of 'Tikkun Olam' and an honest commitment to the fate of the human race. The Israelis were impressed by the attractive advantages Ethiopia offers to foreign investors in agriculture, and by the warm-heartedness extended by officials who welcomed them in each and every site.
