ABSTRACT

The mindset to dramaturg is demonstrated through the question. Questions are essential to the dramaturgical process, and sometimes it is as if the dramaturg's currency is questions. The mindset to dramaturg is formed through understanding the need of the audience in order to investigate the question more effectively and direct the transmission of information. The mindset is characterized by the use of questions. It is a way to analyze a situation and navigate relationships, and it is a process to find the pertinent questions that need to be answered as well as those that need to be asked. This chapter discusses both categories of questions and considers techniques to approach them. The purpose is to examine some of the ways the mindset can be developed through the relationship to the question, not be a comprehensive guide to dramaturging with questions. The chapter describes the kinds of questions dramaturgs answer, and then considers some of the questions the dramaturg asks.
