ABSTRACT

Having written, or rather having planned to write down, the words ‘physical training’ I heard in my head in that very second an angry grumble from the guardians of the psycho-physical purity of the System: those who pronounce the word ‘psychical’ with infinite respect but find the concept of ‘physical’ disgusting or even idiosyncratic. They think that in a decent theatre with a portrait of Stanislavski on the wall it is inappropriate to talk about something as ignoble as the physical.
