ABSTRACT

Born in China, Zhuo Yiyu moved to Taiwan in the late 1940s. She received her BA and MA from San Diego State University in 1968 and 1972, respectively. She received her EdD from the University of San Francisco in 1981. An accomplished painter, her works have been widely exhibited in the United States as well as abroad. Since 1970 Zhou has been teaching both art and literature at San Diego State University. Zhuo has lectured extensively at major universities around the world as well as at the United Nations. Since 1991, she has served on the National Council on the Arts. Zhuo has been considered by many to be an invaluable bridge between Chinese and American culture. She has published numerous books both in English and Chinese. Among them there are two collections of poetry, Thousand Year Pine and To Mommy with Love.
