ABSTRACT

A native of Sichuan Province, Wang Yu immigrated in 1949 to Taiwan, where she graduated in Chinese literature from Zhongxing University in 1961. In 1972, she helped to establish and edit the Children's Monthly, a Taipei magazine to encourage children to write and draw. Since then she has continued her career by editing several poetry anthologies in Taiwan as well as in Hong Kong and China. From 1975 to 1989 she served as chief editor of the arts and literature section of the China Daily News in New York City. Wang Yu now resides in the United States, working as the editor of two prestigious overseas journals: China Rights Forum and Today Literary Magazine in New York City. Wang is known for her finely crafted lyric poems, which have been published in various literary journals and newspapers in Taiwan. In the ruins glisten the dead's restless eyes for those unimpartable messages that suffocate in the heart.
