ABSTRACT

Pen name of Yuan Qiongqiong. A native of Sichuan, Zhu Ling grew up in Taiwan. After graduation from the Tainan Provincial Business School she worked at a television station where she also wrote scripts for television shows. Famous for her fiction, Zhu is also admired for her short but well crafted poems. Their startling imagery is often harsh and even violent, as seen in her poem, 'Full Moon on the 15th of the First Lunar Month', included here. Zhu Ling often writes about the hostile forces that confront modern men. She is known too, for her poems that deal with a woman's psyche. Her husband, Guan Guan, is also a well-known poet in Taiwan.
