ABSTRACT

Considered one of today's China's most promising poets, Fu Tianlin was born in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province. After her graduation from an electronics school in 1961, she worked in orchards in the countryside, pursuing a writing career at the same time. Her first book of poems, Green Musical Notes, won her a national poetry prize in 1981. Her other volumes of verse include Between the Children and the World, Isle of Music, Red Strawberry (1986), Sun's Lover and Other Predictions. In recent years she has worked for the Chongqing Publishing House. I am an orchard stream that slowly floats through the shade of trees, pale greens, song after song of many colors. From spring I want a child's innocence, from autumn, a boat headed for home, from the mountain sparrow, an amorous song. Mother's love is a pillow that holds my dreams, goose-colored and golden and I am not afraid of the bearded stranger or the yellow weasel.
