ABSTRACT

Tashi Tsering explains his work status was changed immediately, and within days he was reassigned to the National Language Research Center, which was in a different part of the school from the bindery. At the National Language Research Center he learned that his training as an English teacher, which had been interrupted when he was imprisoned, was to be resumed, and this news, too, made me extremely happy. All he had to do was find a job in Lhasa, which he did as an English teacher at the Tibet Autonomous Teacher's College. Sangyela blamed him for the fact that she wasn't working. He had taken her away to a strange place and prevented her from developing her change-selling business in Lhasa. Within three years he was able to send a manuscript of the enlarged and revised dictionary to the Nationalities Publishing House in Beijing, where it was accepted and eventually published in 1988.
