ABSTRACT

God has always existed and will always exist. The idea of God being timeless and spaceless arose as a result of the priority given to ideas originating in Greek philosophy. They were seen to be intellectually convincing, and so the biblical, personalise picture of God was interpreted in the light of these ideas. For the everlasting God, time never began and will never end. At some time, God created the universe out of nothing by his word. At some time in the future, the universe will come to an end, but God will not come to an end. God suffers, loves and develops by interacting with the people He has created. The chief problems connected with the idea of an everlasting God are that such a God may look too much like a cosmic superman, and that, being in time, He may not be able to know the future.
