ABSTRACT
Regardless of how you measure inequality and what the exact degree of inequality is, no one seriously questions that the distribution of income and wealth has become more unequal in the United States in recent decades. What some do question, however, is how remarkable that development is. The problem is that annual data on inequality provide a snapshot. They show the economy at one point in time. What we really want is the movie.
