ABSTRACT

Confucianism is fundamentally an inefficacious idol and a fossil of the past. It should cause no problems for the constitution of a democratic country. The essence of Confucianism is called the "ritual teachings" which are the foundation of a country ethics and politics. Constitutions are the guarantors of the rights of the entire country's people, and should not be adulterated by privileging one race, one religion, one party, or one faction. Those who venerate Confucius can basically be divided into two groups. The first group regards the Three Bonds and Five Constant Virtues as a great barrier that should never be transgressed, no matter whether in China or in foreign countries, in the past or in the present. The second group believes that the theory of the Three Bonds and Five Constant Virtues came from apocryphal texts and was eagerly promoted by the Song dynasty Confucians, which in turn led to their problematic the all-mighty power of the ruler.
