ABSTRACT

I Key Elements of Cases All cases contain some variation on the following eight elements. Of course, these elements rarely use as headings the didacti cally descripti ve topic headings presented h ere. Instead of "The Opening Hook," a case is likely to begin without any heading at all. "The Company Story" or "History" is often headed with the company name. "The Industry" normally carries a heading that describes the content; for example, "Candy Manufacturing" or "The Auto IndusLry, 1950-1995." " The Actors" points not to fil m, theater, or television but to the protagonist's name. "The Situation," "A dditional Information," and "The Closing Hook" simply use headings that describe the content to follow. "A ppendices" are headed "A ppendices" (or "Exhibits").
