ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the need for all leaders to have an ethical imperative. It argues that global awareness is a composite of five different elements. "Globality", a phenomenon that brings continuous competition from businesses everywhere in the world, introduces to the world stage newcomers that target lucrative global markets not previously sought by multinational corporations. The multinational corporations (MNCs) frequently have major advantages for prevailing in the global marketplace, it is not necessarily the rule that MNCs always prevail. Creative leadership may mean new products or services or it may mean partnering in new ways. A public-private partnership is a creative leveraging of private expertise for the public good, as well as a means to tap into a huge market. The ethics-based leadership provides valuable insights and recommendations with respect to the courage needed and the nature of leader character.
